ABOUT DEB
Hi! I'm Deb, The Aussie Stretch Therapist, and I have been a Stretch Therapist for over 10 years after travelling to the United States to explore and learn Assisted Stretch Therapy. After training to be a Fascia Stretch Therapist® with the Stretch to Win Institute in the USA, I came home to Brisbane and immediately started changing my clients lives with this therapy and since then I have travelled twice more to the United States to further my training and knowledge of this therapy.
Growing up I was both a ballet dancer and highland dancer and I became a qualified teacher in both of these forms of dance and taught for many years. Flexibility and mobility have always been part of my life and it was then a natural progression for me to be involved with a diverse range of movement based therapies. I have been working with clients in Brisbane for over 12 years now, originally as a Personal Trainer, Yoga Instructor, Mat and Reformer Pilates Instructor and Massage Therapist.
One-on-one assisted stretch therapy sessions consist of predominantly assisted stretch therapy, but I also incorporate all of my skills and knowledge across my collected modalities to help my clients recover from injury, improve pain, reduce tightness and restrictions and move freely.
What is Aussie Stretch Therapy?

What is Aussie Stretch Therapy?
Aussie Stretch Therapy is a combination of Fascia Stretch Therapy (FST®), low load therapy to re-align the body and some direct soft tissue massage techniques which may also include functional cupping.
Each session is individualised and therefore each session looks different.
Assisted stretch therapy is very different to other therapies. Using this therapy I am able to "unglue" restriction or tightness from deep in your joint capsules, which is an area that cannot be accessed using massage or by "digging in" with the hands and fingers. In addition, this technique also lengthens and stretches connected lines of tissue - by addressing the whole line of connected tissue we can release tightness or restriction that is in one section of the tissue that may be pulling on the whole connected line and creating tightness or restriction at the other end.

Why haven't I heard of this therapy before?
Assisted Stretch Therapy, as a mainstream form of therapy, really originated in the USA.
It has been developed over the past 30 years by Ann & Chris Frederick from the Stretch to Win Institute and is very popular in both the USA and Canada. It is slowly becoming more popular here in Australia but is still a very new therapy.
As it is so popular and is such an effective therapy, there are of course some copycat and knock off versions of the original assisted stretch therapy - Fascia Stretch Therapy®. As with any copycat, they are never the same as the original and for this reason I encourage you to do your research prior to booking with anyone advertising assisted stretch therapy.

Who is this therapy good for?
I work with a huge variety of people including office workers, teachers, GP's, surgeons, athletes, business owners, paramedics, police officers, Mums, breast cancer survivors, post surgical clients and the list goes on.

My gawd I love Deb!! She has my body moving again. I had hip pain that could not be improved...that is after trying many different therapies. My pain has now gone.

Just wanted to thank you for fixing my hand. After you worked on it and my shoulder I had a small “tweak” in class when I was doing the bar push up and since then it has been perfect. Not the slightest sign of pain, even after playing golf on Thursday.
You are truly great at what you do. Thank you, Thank you!

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How long are your appointments?
A: Appointments are 60minutes
Q: Can I use my Private Health?
A: No, at this time I am unable to offer a private health fund rebate
Q: How many sessions do I need to fix my problem/pain/tightness?
A: This varies from person to person and depends on many factors including how long you have had the problem/pain, what you do during the week that exacerbates the problem, if you are willing to do regular homework and many other factors
Q: How often do I need sessions?
A: This also varies from person to person. I generally recommend a few sessions closer together (weekly or fortnightly) so we can get on top of the problem/pain/tightness. We may then be able to spread the sessions out a little more and gradually work towards a maintenance program. This is a very general example and I will talk to you more after our first session together about a plan that best suits you
Q: Is this a painful therapy?
A: No, this therapy is gentle and quite relaxing. There are some stretches that you may feel more strongly than others but I work slowly and gently allowing your body and nervous system to relax which allows the tissue to soften, lengthen and let go.
Q:What should I wear?
A: I need to be able to move your body around without restriction. Ladies - gym gear or activewear is best - no very short bike pants or short shorts please. Gentlemen - shorts with bike pants underneath or stretchy track pants work well.
